TUNING UP AT ALBERT PARK - DVAC RESULTS

The 2025 Australian Grand Prix may be over but there is still a lot of tuning up going on at Albert Park. This week there were nine DVAC athletes taking part in the High Velocity Club #5 and the AV Throwers #5 meets that were held at Lakeside. Most of the number are in the final stages of preparing for the 2025 Australian Athletics Championships that get under way on Friday 4th April 2025 in Perth.

DVAC ATHLETES AT SPECIALIST MEETS & IMPORTANT DATES

Now that the AV Shield and State Championships are over for the 2024/2025 Summer, there is an appetite for competition with many of the DVAC athletes. Some are looking to keep in shape for the Nationals that are only a month away while others are looking to squeeze that bit extra out of the Track & Field season. The Specialist meets such as the Box Hill Burn, the High Velocity Club, the AV Throwers Club, and Rare Air have all offered athletes a chance to achieve these outcomes in the past week.

2025 VICTORIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS WK 2_DVAC RESULTS

It was a Championship filled with highlights for members of the Diamond Valley Athletic Club. DVAC athletes were in action every area of the arena and they were being called to the podium on a regular basis. Each athlete walked away from the experience of competing at Championship level richer for the experience.

DVAC RESULTS AT WEEK 1 OF 2025 VICTORIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Athletics Victoria embraced the strength of Overage Athletics in its new format of Victorian Championship competition in a move that has paid great dividends for the sport and for the Diamond Valley Athletic Club. Over the first three days of the Vic Champs Juniors for 17Yrs to 20Yrs as well as Overage athletes competed in a full range of Championship events.

VICTORIAN MILERS CLUB - MEET #4 2025

The track temperature was hot at Aberfeldie for the VMC #4 meet but so was the form of the Valley middle distance crew. Twelve DVAC athletes (2 Female & 10 Male) journeyed to Aberfeldie to race over the 800m and Mile distances.

KEELY BOYNE MAKES FIRST NATIONALS FINAL

The Australian Short Track Athletics Championships debuted in spectacular fashion on Saturday 1st February, The one-day championships marks a significant step in the development of short track racing in the country, providing a key platform for athletes to not only qualify for the World Indoor Championships in March but earn crucial world ranking points ahead of the World Athletics Championships in September.

TWO PREMIERSHIPS AND NOW RUNNERS-UP: A PROUD VALLEY STORY

The AVSL 2024/2025 season is over, and the Diamond Valley Athletic Club has finished Runners-up to Eaglehawk in the Premier Division. After taking out the title for the last two seasons, DVAC has finished the season on 93 Shield points with a score of 420,302. At the end of the competition three of the sixteen divisions were able to claim premiership honours. These teams were the Female18, the Female 40+ and the Female 50+.

VALLEY HAS ITS SAY ON POWERPLAY DAY

The temperature soared and the competition was hot on a day when 17 AV clubs used their PowerPlay in Round 9 of the AVSL season. The Diamond Valley Athletic Club emerged from the scramble for points with the pleasure of finishing on top of the Premier Division for Round 9 and maximising the return from the PowerPlay by turning the 10 points into 20 points. Secure in second place on the season ladder, the Valley now has a total of 80 points after Round 9 and sits behind Eaglehawk who are on 84.

DVAC results from Bendigo, Canberra and New Zealand

The Australia Day weekend has seen DVAC athletes produce outstanding results at Bendigo (Vic Country Champs), Canberra (Capital Athletics State Champs) and in New Zealand for the NZ Mile Championships. Jaryd Clifford went oh so close to a sub 4 minute mile.

AVSL ROUND 8 2025 - DVAC RESULTS

Round 8 of AVSL season DVAC scored 42,896 points to rank as the second highest club score behind Eaglehawk. DVAC remains firmly fixed as the second placed club on the Premier Division season ladder. A total of 65 athletes (37 Male & 28 Female) competed at the Aberfeldie, Mt Evelyn and Geelong venues.

DVAC HOLDS TIGHT IN AVSL RD 7 2025

The AVSL Round 7 action on Saturday 11th January 2025 took part for the most part at the Meadowglen and Frankston venues in hot and humid conditions. When the final scorecard was posted, the DVAC had finished in second position for the round to consolidate its season ladder position in the Premier Division. The Eaglehawk team had confirmed its position on top of the ladder, scoring 47,395 points to the 43,696 points scored by the Valley. A total of 61 DVAC athletes competed.

SPECIALIST MEETS BRING SPECIAL JOY

Two nights of specialist athletics action have attracted large turnouts of athletes enjoying the final chance to compete in 2024. On Tuesday 17 December 2024 a combination of the High Velocity Club, Athletics Victoria Throwers and the AV Rare Air specialist groups offered a variety of events at Doncaster. On Thursday 19 December 2024, the Victorian Milers Club Meet #2 attracted over 600 athletes to the Box Hill venue for a program that included 26 races over 800m and 22 races over 1500m.

2024 AUSTRALIAN ALL SCHOOLS ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS_DVAC RESULTS

The 11 DVAC athletes (7 Female & 4 Male) at this year’s Australian All Schools Athletics Championships won a total of 7 medals (2 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze) over the three days of competition. In 2023, 16 DVAC athletes competed in Perth and won a total of 7 medals.

VALLEY TEAMS UP FOR SUCCESS AT RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS

A total of 37 teams (15 Female & 22 Male) represented Diamond Valley in the Track & Field relays. There were 76 DVAC athletes (30 Female & 46 Male) involved in the program. The Valley athletes produced 22 podium results (9 Gold, 5 Silver and 8 Bronze) over the two days.

AVSL RD 5: DVAC SECOND AT THE TURN

The Diamond Valley Athletic Club is having a good season. At the half-way mark of the season the club is sitting in second place on the ladder in the Premier Division with 9 of the 16 age-groups in the top three across the state. DVAC finished in second place in Round 5 with 66 athletes (25 female & 41 male) amassing a total of 43,488 points.

AVSL ROUND 4: SPRINTERS TAKE THE VALLEY TO THE TOP

The quality of the DVAC sprint team in Round 4 of the AVSL season helped to propel the Valley to the top of the Premier Division table by the end of competition. By the end of Round 4, DVAC was on top of the Premier Division table with 52,703 points and 4,702 points clear of the second placed team, Eaglehawk who remain at the top of the season ladder. There were 78 Valley athletes on the results list for Round 4 with 36 Female and 42 Male athletes either at the Doncaster or Murrumbeena venues.
