2022 VICTORIAN CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2022 Victorian Cross Country Championships were held at Bundoora Park on Saturday 23 July with over 1300 athletes from all over the state taking part. Held in two parts, the Championships covered the Victorian All Schools Cross Country Championships in the morning and the Athletics Victoria Victorian Cross Country Championships in the afternoon. There were 35 members (11 Women, 24 Men) of the Diamond Valley Athletic Club who competed on the day as well as a number from the Diamond Valley Lit

AV XCR'22 ROUND 5 - ROAD RELAYS AT SANDOWN

The AV Winter program returns to Sandown after a two year break. Nine Valley teams take to the circuit at Sandown and post some great results. Thirty two athletes make up four Women's teams and five men's teams. Shania Murray and Tim Logan set the standard with some hot laps.

XCR'22 ROUND 4: EKIDEN RELAYS AT ST ANNE'S, MYRNIONG

36 DVAC athletes took on the challenge of the Big Dippers and a tough, challenging course at St Anne's, Myrniong and came away from the EKIDEN Relays with 10 good team results. The sirens at the St Anne's Winery were calling members for a short stay after the competition.

XCR'22 RD 3 - CROSS COUNTRY AT CRUDEN FARM

The sun did shine at last, but the mud & the slopes of Cruden Farm ensured that all 33 members of the Valley team were made to work hard. The good team results were a reason to smile and enjoy the post race get together in the Valley 'clubrooms'.

2022 DVAC BINNAK BOWL HANDICAP REPORT

32 Valley athletes & their support teams gathered on a brisk morning at Binnak Park, Watsonia for the 2022 Binnak Bowl Handicap. The races were keenly contested with lots of good results.

XCR'22 ROUND 1

39 Valley athletes took to the hills at Jells Park for the first round of the 2022 Cross Country season with good results.

AVSL RD 8 RESULTS & REPORT

DVAC is in a battle with Eaglehawk for second place in the Premier Division. Clearly the Bendigo club want the second place back after the Valley pushed them into third place in Round 6. In Round 8 Eaglehawk finished in second place with DVAC in third place; that means the two clubs are tied on 76 points for the season. At this point DVAC still holds onto second place for the season, leading Eaglehawk by a score of 7,542.

AVSL RD 7_DVAC RESULTS, REPORT

TEAMS WITHIN TEAMS Another strong result for the Diamond Valley Athletic Club – second out of the ten teams in the Premier Division for Round 7. A total of 41,828 pts on the day consolidated our second place on the season ladder with three rounds remaining before the AVSL Playoffs. A few of the highlights: the Men Open had their best result in yonks; Men U20 had their first win for the season; Men U16 finished 2nd to record their best result this season.

AVSL Round 6: Meadowglen - Xmas Joy at the Valley

What a magic day for the Diamond Valley Athletic Club at Meadowglen last Saturday! It was the round chosen to use our Powerplay & it paid handsome dividends. Ten points for heading the Premier Division table became 20 and the club’s highest points tally was enough to drag the club into second place on the season ladder after 6 rounds.

VALLEY ATHLETES RUN THE MELBOURNE MARATHON

Congratulations to all DVAC runners who took part in the 2021 Melbourne Marathon Festival over the weekend. The 10km Road Race was held on Saturday Shania Murray had a great result finishing 4th in the Women’s race in 36:26. Well done, Shania. Tyler Murphy ran a big PB finishing 3rd in U17 with 36:05. Chris Rancie ran 2:29 to finish 21st in the marathon.

AVSL RD 5: LAST ROUND BEFORE THE CHRISTMAS BREAK WILL BE VITAL FOR THE VALLEY

The Diamond Valley Athletic Club consolidated its hold on 4th place in the Premier League of the Athletics Victoria Shield League with another mighty showing in Round 5. Altogether 57 DVAC athletes took to the field of competition and scored 39,836 points. DVAC finished 2nd for the round in the Premier League. The average point score for each athlete went up from 692 in Round 4 to 698 in Round 5. The result means that we further close the gap on the top three & widen the gap on the teams below

AVSL Rd 4: RECORD SCORE IN ROUND 4 ... VALLEY STRIKES

The Diamond Valley Athletic Club consolidated its hold on 4th place in the Premier League of the Athletics Victoria Shield League with a mighty showing in Round 4. Altogether 67 DVAC athletes took to the field of competition and scored a club high 46, 3829 points. DVAC finished 2nd for the round in the Premier League. This means that we close the gap on the top three & widen the gap on the teams below us. Two more weeks

Willinda 10km Classic 2021 - Tuesday 30th Nov

The Willinda 10km Classic gives runners the opportunity to run 10km on the track at Willinda park in Greensborough on Tuesday evening,  30th November 2021. The Willinda Classic will offer both 3000m and 10,000m events. The event supported by Athletics Victoria will enable athletes to also qualify for the Zatopek 10km National Championship.

AVSL Rd 3: THE TOP FOUR CHALLENGE FOR DVAC 

The Diamond Valley Athletic Club is holding on to 4th place in the Premier League of the Athletics Victoria Shield League but we will be facing a tough challenge to hold the position. DVAC has made a mighty achievement in the first three rounds to be in the top four: the next three rounds, leading up to the Christmas break will determine if we can qualify for the 2021/2022 AV Shield Finals to be held on Saturday 5 March 2022 by staying in the top four.
