VALLEY GOES INTO PLAYOFFS IN TOP POSITION:
RD 10 SEALS THE MINOR PREMIERSHIP
The Diamond Valley Athletic Club has achieved a first time top of the ladder finish to the regular season of Athletics Victoria Shield League. The 60 DVAC athletes who competed at Keilor & Frankston (30 Women & 30 Men) won a total of 42,858 points to squeak home in top spot for the round from Eaglehawk, 42,641 points. With Essendon finishing in third position on the Premier Division ladder for Round 10, it meant that the Valley emerged in top position for the season (103 points) ahead of Essendon (102 points). With the Littles Region Championships keeping many of the DVAC juniors busy and the World Cross Country Championships in Bathurst drawing a small number away, the achievements of those who did compete in Round 10 highlights the depth of the talent at the Valley.
At the end of Round 10 the top 5 clubs on the Premier Division Ladder set to contest the Division Shield for the season in their current order are: Diamond Valley (103pts); Essendon (102pts); Eaglehawk (87pts); Glenhuntly (70pts); & Western Athletics (68pts).
The 5 clubs in Premier Division set to battle against the possibility of Relegation are: Box Hill (58pts); Doncaster (53pts); Chilwell (28pts); Collingwood (25pts) & Wyndham (21pts).
