VALLEY ATHLETES AT THE ZATOPEK

Three DVAC athletes appeared in action at this year’s Zatopek meet held at Lakeside Stadium on Saturday 2 December 2023.

Pole Vaulter, Elyssia Kenshole carried her part of the team at the Steve Hooker Challenge. Trouble was … her ‘partner’, Oympian Decathlete, Ashley Maloney, failed to get over his first height. While Eyssia cleared 3.91m and won the women’s section of the competition, she was left to watch much of the men’s competition without any vital interest.

Junior distance runners, Matilda L’Estrange (U18) and Poppy Scot-Dalgleish (U18) lined up in the B Race of the Lisa Ondieki Female U20 3000m event. For a good part of the race, the two training mates were never far away from each other. L’Estrange finished 9th out of 15 runners in a personal best time of 10:01..82 and set a new DVAC club record for Women Under 18. Poppy Scot-Dalgleish crossed in 13th place in 10:18.95.
