NOTES FROM LAKESIDE:
· DVAC club records set on the weekend included:
· Toby Hamilton’s BU15 Pole Vault clearance over 3.20m (first try at Pole Vault!!).
· Ally Brooks 2:11.57 in the GU18 800m reset the club records through to Open age (and what a race!). This run backed up the win in the 1500m in Week #1.
· Jamie Ritchie deserves to be in the club record books with her 25.31 win in the GU14 200m. Watching the Valley girls sprint team in action is very exciting. Maddy Meagher set things off with a Gold in the GU17, then Rebecca Hvalica won Silver in the GU16 and then followed Jamie.
· Jordan Rudd (BU20 Para) set a new club record for the T20’s when he scorched around the bend to cross in 25.58. Jordan’s 2:14.11 in the 800m saw the oft repeated close finish with his friend, Kai Davenport.
· Asher Andrews has missed out on doing a Decathlon over the two weekends – only requiring the 110m Hurdles, 400m, High Jump & the 1500m to complete the event. Asher has medalled in all of the other six events over the two weekends. Amazing!
· Ethan Armstrong-Bourne missed on making the final of the BU17 800m by 0.16 second but bear in mind that Ethan had run a 3000m in 9:04.09 (pb) earlier in the day. What a double!
· Rebecca Hvalica has moved house – she used to live in 26 seconds for the 200m but she now lives in 25 seconds. Three pb’s in two days – 25.76, 25.65 and 25.59. Seems like Rebecca is keen to move house again before long!
· What is the strong suit at the Valley? If you count the medals in Week #2 it is definitely Throws (8 medals), then Jumps (5 medals), Sprints (4 medals) and then Distance (3 medals)
