GREAT TEAM EFFORT MAKES FOR SCORE BOARD SUCCESS

AVSL ROUND 2

The success experienced by the Diamond Valley Athletic Club in Round 2 of the Athletics Victoria Shield League 2023/2024 season was the result of a combined effort across all age groups of the club. DVAC finished on top of the Premier League scoreboard with a total of 59,988 points well clear of Eaglehawk who were second for the round with 49,714 points. The Valley total was built from the efforts of all 92 athletes (43 Women & 49 Men) who wore the club colours at the Doncaster or Casey venues. Every effort counts!

A look at the table of each DVAC age group in Round 2 shows the quality of results when measured against their counterparts across the state. This week the Men 40+ broke new ground with a all time high score of 15,937 points garnered by the 22 DVAC athletes in the M40+ team that competed on the day. The DVAC Women’s Open team as well as the DVAC Women Under 18 and Under 16 teams, all topped the state in their division.

In the Men Under 18 team, the four athletes, Asher Andrews, Rowan Fletcher, Joel Imbriano and Rhodri Whelan combined to score 4,085 points and finish 3rd on the MU18 ladder for the day with an amazing average of 1,021 points. Of course it does help when Asher scores the second highest individual total for the round across the State with 1,437 points.

Seven DVAC athletes scored over the 1000 points for the round. They were – Asher Andrews, Lalith Udugampala, Zoey Ryan, Colin Newman, Bruce Wood, Matthew Hall and Elyssia Kenshole.
