2022 AUSTRALIAN ALL SCHOOLS TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE – KIRRA COLLECTS THEM ALL

DVAC Para athlete, Kirra Wright has continued her of medal winning performances at the 2022 Australian Schools Track & Field Championships held in Adelaide. Kirra, 14, won Bronze medals in the 100m & 200m, Silver in the Shot Put and Gold in the Long Jump.

Eight DVAC athletes journeyed to Adelaide for the 2022 Australian All Schools Track & Field Championships held on the brand new facilities at the South Australia Athletics Stadium from Friday 9th December to Sunday 11th December 2022.

Kirra, a T38 athlete, won the Gold medal in the Long Jump with a leap of 3.79m. Her Silver medal in the Shot Put was won with a distance of 7.76m. Kirra crossed in second place in the 200m in a time of 32.35: this was awarded a percentage of 80.12% to win the Bronze medal. Kirra ran a personal best time of 15.34 in the 100m to win the Bronze medal.

Maddy Meagher made the finals in both the Girls Under 15 100m and 200m events and completed a busy schedule by representing Victoria in the Girls Under 16 4x100m Relay team that placed 5th. In the Heat of the GU15 200m Maddy stormed home over the second half to qualify in a personal best time of 25.62. In the final, Maddy finished in 7th place in 25.89.

Maddy qualified in the 100m with a third placing in the Heat in 12.51. Maddy placed 6th in the Final in 25.89.

Hanna Rowe, GU14, produced a personal best throw of 34.97m with the Hammer to place 4th.

Matilda L’Estrange, GU17, ran her second fastest time of 10:26.23 in the final of the GU17 3000m to place 5th.

Asher Andrews, BU16, produced a personal best throw of 53.53m with the Javelin to place 5th. This distance extends on his own DVAC club records for the Men Under 16, 17 & 18 age groups. Asher completed his usual busy program with a leap of 6.46m in the Long Jump to place 5th & throw the Discus 40.83m in tricky conditions to finish in 8th position.

Jamieson Lander, GU15, clocked a personal best time of 30.51 in the 200m Hurdles despite hitting the second last hurdle. This time placed Jamieson in 7th position.

Ines Caton-Smith, GU14, finished in 9th place in the GU14 Javelin with a throw of 30.28m.

Rebecca Hvalica, GU14, still on her way back from recent injury ran 13.24 in the Heats of the GU14 100m. Rebecca also ran the last leg of a Victoria ‘A’ team in the 4x100m Relay that won the Bronze medal, finishing in 49.70.
