DETAILS: The Hursty Hustle Train Race is a free 3.5km fun run/walk racing against the Wattle Festival steam train. The event goes along the Diamond Creek Trail from Wattle Glen to Hurstbridge. Participants get a head start from the train. Everyone starts at a different time (slower runners & walkers go earlier, faster runners go later). Your time-handicap is based on your running/walking speed. (Let us know your 5km time or just estimate in the entry form.)
HOW TO GET THERE: Cycling or public transport is recommended. Ride your bike along the Diamond Creek Trail, or catch the Metro train on the Hurstbridge line, or the #343 bus. After the finish you can catch the train or bus back from Hurstbridge, or walk/jog back. There is a small carpark at the start line in Wilson Rd (near the one-lane bridge), and a larger carpark near the toilets at the Wattle Glen oval. Parking is severely limited in Hurstbridge on Wattle Festival day.
